Through a blend of colour and style psychology and an in-depth, completely confidential questionnaire, designed to uncover your desires, your tastes and how you want your space to feel, even the things you've never quite put into words. Where it helps, we also work alongside professional intimacy coaches, who are wonderful at helping you explore and articulate what you truly want from your space. By the time we design a single thing, we understand you; and that understanding is what makes the finished room feel unmistakably yours.

You're not alone; almost every client feels this way at first, and our whole process is built around it. We can introduce you to our recommended intimacy coaches, professionals who are experienced at gently helping you open up, explore your desires and find the words for what you want; they then help you share with us only what we need to design your space beautifully. Much of our questionnaire can be completed privately in your own time, and every conversation is confidential, unhurried and entirely without judgement. Our clients regularly tell us the process itself was unexpectedly liberating.

Yes. Discretion is fundamental to what we do. We're happy to sign a non-disclosure agreement before our very first conversation, and the trusted trades and suppliers we work with operate under confidentiality agreements too. Correspondence is discreet, site visits are unremarkable to any onlooker, and your project is never shared, photographed or discussed without your explicit written permission.

Yes to both, and these are two of our favourite design challenges. For concealment, we design hidden entrances such as Murphy doors (doors disguised as bookcases, panelling or cabinetry), sliding mirror doors and jib doors that disappear seamlessly into the wall, so your room stays entirely private, even from house guests standing right beside it. For sound, we design in acoustic insulation, solid core doors with acoustic seals, and sound absorbing finishes such as upholstered wall panels, layered fabrics and carpet; beautiful materials that happen to work very hard. What your guests can't see or hear, they'll never wonder about.

Yes; in fact, this is precisely why Intimate Spaces exists. Our designs are sensual and feminine centric, created to empower women in their sexuality; think jewel colours, sumptuous velvets and silks, flattering candlelight-soft lighting and furniture designed for comfort and pleasure, including our own registered Love Chaise design. The red and black dungeon look is a choice, not a rule; your intimate space should reflect your desires and your aesthetic, and helping you find your style is what we do.

Then we'll design you a magnificent one. While we promote ourselves primarily as designers of sensual, elegant spaces, we're experienced and entirely comfortable designing dungeons and harder edged playrooms, and we bring the same rigour to them: proper fixing points, robust materials, considered lighting and layouts that work for how you actually play. Whatever your taste, it will be beautifully designed, safely built and completely private.

Yes. Your design includes space plans and 3D visuals, alongside fully bespoke mood boards showing furniture, fabrics, colours and finishes in realistic light, so you can see exactly how your space will look and feel before anything is ordered or built. Very little is left to the imagination; you'll see your room before a single change is made, which is exactly how expensive mistakes are avoided.

We do it all: design, build, project management, supply, fit out and styling. You don't need to source a single item, brief a builder or explain anything to a tradesperson; you simply share your dreams and desires for the space, and we take care of everything else, discreetly and completely. Once it's built, of course, what happens next is entirely up to you.

Every intimate space is entirely bespoke, so there is no one-size-fits-all price; your investment depends on the room, the level of bespoke furniture and finishes, and how far you'd like us to take it. No. Our fees are charged in phases, so payments follow the natural stages of your project rather than landing in one lump at the start. Your proposal sets out each phase and its cost clearly before you commit, so you always know what's due, when, and what you'll receive for it. Furniture and bespoke pieces are typically paid for as they're ordered, which is standard practice as made to order items go into production on payment.

Changing your mind is a normal part of the journey, especially with a space this personal, and our process is built for it. Each stage of your design includes up to three rounds of revisions, so there's room to refine and reconsider until it feels absolutely right; most clients find the first round gets us remarkably close, because of the depth of understanding we build before we design anything. You approve each stage before we move to the next, so changes happen on paper, where they're easy and inexpensive, rather than after bespoke pieces have gone into production.

Honestly, no, and we'd rather tell you that straight away. We design only four or five private Intimate Spaces a year, so that every client receives our complete, unhurried attention from first conversation to finished room, and there is usually a wait list. These are deeply personal projects and we've chosen never to rush them. If you have a date in mind, an anniversary, a birthday, a new home, do get in touch early and we'll be honest about what's possible.

Not at this stage, and here's why: builders and project managers can't give you an accurate quote until they know exactly what they're pricing. Without completed plans and elevations, any figure you get is really just a guess, and guesses have a habit of turning into budget surprises later on.

Our process starts with the design; space planning, detailed drawings and elevations, so that by the time a builder or project manager comes on board, they're quoting against a clear, fixed brief rather than a moving target. This tends to save you money in the long run, as well as a fair amount of stress.

Once your plans are ready, we're also very happy to recommend trusted builders and project managers we've worked with before, people we know do reliable, quality work.

So the short answer is; come and talk to us first, and we'll help you get everything in place before you bring in the build team.

Because we deliberately limit ourselves to four or five private Intimate Spaces a year; it's the only way to give each project the depth of attention it deserves, and we'd rather do a handful of extraordinary rooms than a diary full of rushed ones. That said, projects do occasionally pause, for building work or planning reasons, and move to a later slot; when that happens, an earlier space opens up. So if we feel we're a good fit for each other, it's always worth a conversation; you may be pleasantly surprised by what we can rearrange.

Yes, of course. Provided you're happy to cover our travel and expenses, we can design and build an intimate space anywhere in the world. Much of the design process works beautifully over Zoom, and we travel for the moments that matter: surveying the space, overseeing the fit out and styling the finished room. Distance is no barrier to discretion or quality.

Yes. A yacht is a wonderful setting for an intimate space, and its constraints, curved walls, compact dimensions, marine grade materials, fixings that behave at sea, are exactly the kind of design challenge we relish. Everything is designed bespoke to your vessel and fitted with complete discretion

Yes, we do, and it's a natural fit. Founder Pippa Sale grew up in the hotel industry and spent years as a director and owner of a family hotel, so she understands commercial spaces from the inside: the wear and tear they take, the durability they demand, and how to keep a room practical and easy to maintain while still feeling wonderful.
